9 days old now!!!

Well, I thought I would just update ya'll on the happenings. My Mom wanted a couple good pictures of the girls that she could print so I decided to break out the off-camera flash and such. I think they turned out great and here are a couple of the pictures I took. We went to the lactation consultant today and found out they are both in the 5 pound range again. This has been our big struggle. As you know, they were both born over 5 pounds and quickly after, dropped well below that. At their lowest, Scarlet was weighing in at 4lb11oz and Simone 4lb12oz. This is much lower than they're supposed to be. They aren't supposed to get below 10% weight loss post birth. They are now doing better than 10%. Simone is now at 9.6% and weighs in at 5lb and 1/2oz, and Scarlet is now at only 1.5% weighing 5lb and .9oz. We are delighted that they are doing so well. Scarlet is a great eater when it comes to the bottle (which we are using in addition to breastfeeding to supplement until Amy's milk fully comes in), and Simone is actually better on the breast. Anyways, I have posted a few pictures and you just need to click the picture above to view them.

The twins are home now!!!

As is my way I won't say much in words...I like to tell the story with pictures. However, I will let everyone know that the girls are doing well. They are acting like preemies which means sleeping and eating and really nothing else. They hardly even open their eyes. We have been so focused on making sure they keep their weight that it hasn't mattered that much to us. Even still, they are super cute and very good-natured...so far. They are home now. For the past two days they have held their weight at 4lb11oz (Scarlet) and 4lb12oz (Simone). A little different than their starting weights but at least they are holding their weight. Amy has been exhausted but she got a 3 hour nap today...much needed. If I stop to rest I start getting sleepy but I really haven't stopped yet...evidence of that is our DVR's fullness of shows that need to be watched. Grandma and Grandpa have helped immensely and we appreciate them a ton. Read the captions on the pictures because they tell a little more about what is going on. Enjoy the pictures. Again, click this picture to take you to the rest of them. There's a lot this time.

3 days old pictures!!!

Well, I figured everyone should get the status of everyone. Amy is doing real well and she is moving around great. Yesterday it was determined that the girls were losing too much weight so we decided to use this syringe thing that squirts formula in with the milk from the breast. When they were weighed today apparently that didn't make any difference and now they are down 11% (Scarlet) and 14% (Simone). This is too much. So, we tried something new today...we weighed them before and after the breast feeding to see how much they are actually eating. This scale is very finite. It turns out they are hardly getting anything off the boobs. Our girls are kind of weaklings and whenever they start sucking and it's hard they just get tired. So, we are supplementing them even more now. It turns out Scarlet is a heavier sucker than Simone. Our newest goals is that they eat 45mL each sitting and 8x/ day. Scarlet is doing close to that...Simone is doing about 1/2-2/3 that. So, we are planing on going home tomorrow and this will be our fight for the next couple weeks I imagine, especially until Amy's milk really come in. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures by clicking the picture...it will take you to my picasa page.

The Twins part two

Just some updated photos. Click the picture to check'm out.

The Twins!!!

Click the picture to get taken to the rest of the pictures!!! They were born at 8ish this morning. Amy did great and so did the girls. They are very different from eachother. Simone has darker hair and more of it. Scarlet has lighter eyes and hair and less hair. Both are good girls and are doing well. These were just some of the first pictures so I will keep posting soon.

Tender moments

Today I am 37 weeks - yay!! Less than 4 days until the babies come! With my increasingly growing belly moving around is rather difficult. But on the flip side it's fun to sit there and watch/feel the babies move. The other day I was sitting there and my belly was pointy at this one spot. So of course I put my hand there. From the positioning of the babies it was about where the hands of Baby B are. As my hand was there I could feel her little hand moving around at that spot and it was kind of like I was holding her hand. It was pretty dang awesome! Anyway, we took some pics of the belly today that included Porter and Jeff. I LOVE them!

Totally precious!

Seriously, nothing gets more adorable than this.

Nothing is cuter/sexier than seeing a man excited to meet his babies.

Big ol belly.
