Porter's scriptures

Porter keeps calling this his scriptures. Look closely - it's a barn.
Jeff and I each have the small scriptures that we carry in a small zippered case with a handle so I guess that to Porter this looks like what we use.

Albertsons sucks

Of course, this is just my opinion, but I am entitled to my opinion. Let me explain how I came to this conclusion. The past few months I have been trying the whole couponing thing out. Many of my friends have been having such awesome success that I wanted to give it a try. Now, before couponing I never went to Albertsons because it is so outrageously and ridiculously overpriced. But with coupons, especially when Albertsons doubles their coupons, I had to give it a try.

First, I found out that even with coupons Albertsons is still overly priced and I could get things still cheaper at other places. So I decided to just go when there are doubles coupons, which usually is only three of them a week, and just get those three items. Well, that has even proved to be a challenge.

Now, let me back up and explain my feelings about couponing in general. The idea sounds awesome, right? Getting money off of items that you buy, what could be better. So I've talked with friends and checked out many websites that have tips and examples of what they have saved at the store and how to do it. Well, the first hurdle I have run into is that most of the coupons out there are for food that is processed, and we don't buy processed food. That basically means that most things you get in a box/container that has trans fats, sugar, enriched flour or white flour we don't buy, not even cereal or juice. So that right there limits what we can even use coupons for. I have been able to stock up on toiletries, but we are now stocked up so I don't need anything else. We don't need medicine, the make-up I buy I can only get at the mall, Porter doesn't need a butt load of toys or clothes, we are good to go on cleaning supplies and we don't need crap like candles or candy. But what I really wanted to use coupons for was food, but they don't have coupons for the things that we actually buy!!

So, back to Albertsons. I went today to take advantage of the doubles, which expire today, and I took a bunch of coupons so that I could take full advantage of the three doubles they have and I didn't know what they would actually have available of the things I wanted so I wanted options. Well, almost everything I wanted to get they didn't even have. So I was eventually able to find just two things that I could get. But even with the doubles I feel like I could probably just take my manufacturers coupons somewhere cheaper and get a better price. Anyway, I got to the cashier and I didn't have my Albertsons card and the phone number on that card is our old number and I didn't remember it, so the coupons wouldn't work without a card. I was already frustrated because they didn't even have anything that I really wanted and I spent way too long wondering around trying to find stuff at this stupid expensive store, so when he told me that since I didn't have my card I couldn't use my doubles I just walked out. So that's why Albertsons sucks and I will no longer go there.

But I'm trying to not let myself get down about couponing. I have been able to get good deals sometimes, but every week when I go buy the newspaper I just keep hoping that they will have coupons for stuff we actually buy. What would be absolutely AWESOME is if they would have coupons for produce, which is what we buy the most. Sigh. Hopefully I will have better luck in the future.

Baby update, again

Yup, another baby update. I like to have my doc appointments documented. I'll make this one quick, kinda. Today I had another ultrasound and doc appointment. This time they were able to give weight estimates for the babies. Baby A is roughly 4 lbs 14 oz and Baby B is roughly 5 lbs 6 oz. Baby A is catching up and Baby B is slowing down. My goal was to have both babies over 5 lbs and it looks like they will be. Both fluid levels and heart beats are looking good. Baby A is still breech on the bottom but is now on my right side and Baby B is transverse on the top of my stomach. But everything is still looking good for the babies. As for me, I'm about 60% effaced, which is to be expected with twins and with my second pregnancy, but I'm not dilated at all. So we are right on track for our Nov 19th c-section. My next doc appointment is in 2 weeks and then the babies are coming 2 days after. Holy crap, it's close! Of course anything can still happen so if things seem to start going on then I am to go in right away, but because of Jeff's boards on the 13th and 14th we want them to stay in until the 19th. So I'm resting a ton to make sure the babies stay in there, plus I am always completely exhausted anyway (and uncomfortable, but who's complaining) so all I want to do is rest. Anyway, babies are good, I'm good, life is good.

35 weeks!

Now that I have made it to 35 weeks I can officially have the babies at Mt. Hood Legacy. Anytime before that and I would have had to go to Legacy Emmanuel and have a totally different doctor because they are more equipped to handle preemies. So things are looking pretty good. To commemorate making it another 5 weeks we did a fun little photo shoot. Yes, I am limited in what actually fits me and looks good so I'm wearing the same dress I wore at my week 30 photos...and the wardrobe just keeps getting smaller as I keep getting bigger. Anyway, I am growing more and more uncomfortable, and let's just say maybe slightly moody, but I had to have fun with these pics anyway. So here ya go:

Classic shot.

This is probably the evilness that Jeff has been seeing lately.

But no matter how uncomfortable I am I'm way excited to meet my little girlies.

So maybe a pregnant woman can still be cute...maybe.

HUGS!

This looks better on a naked pregnant belly, but I'm taking a wild guess that not everyone wants to see my multitude of stretch marks.

Halloween fun

Halloween was more fun this year because Porter is old enough to get what's going on. So we had some decorations up, listened to Halloween music (gotta love "Thriller"), he got to choose what his costume was, and we talked about trick or treating and all the fun festivities. Good times were had by all.

When we carved the pumpkin Ports didn't want to touch any of the pumpkin's insides, but he had fun watching Dada do it. Porter got to choose what the face was and he wanted it to be Elmo, so this is the closest we could get. I think it still turned out pretty good. Last year we carved the pumpkin too early and it withered and died before Halloween, so this year we did it the day before Halloween, and voila, the pumpkin is still alive for Halloween.

He wanted to be a robot and the best one we could find was at Dollar Tree, so here is his awesome hi-tech costume. I have no creativity in me right now so I wasn't about to make anything. But Porter still had fun and that's all that matters. Next year maybe even Jeff and I will dress up...but we'll see.

We went to the ward's Primary Halloween party where there was trick-or-treating, then went to a birthday party (Jonathan, Toshia's son, turned 1 yesterday) and after the party we hit up a few houses over there for trick-or-treating. Porter (ok, let's be honest, Jeff and I) scored lots of candy. There are many days of sugar highs ahead of us.

Oh Porter

Having kids is fun and entertaining. Here are some examples:

Porter put his pants on backwards, but at least he got his belt buckled.

Payless was having an awesome sale so we went to look for some shoes and Porter went straight for these heels, took off his shoes, put these ones on and proceeded to walk around. Should I be worried?? We didn't even end up buying shoes which is sad to me when there is a real good sale.

Baby update

We had another ultrasound and doc appointment. The fluid in Baby A's sac is looking totally good. It was low before and that was the main reason that I was told to take it easy, so apparently it is working. Since it's only been 2 weeks since the last measurements were taken they didn't do them again so we don't have any weight/growth estimates right now, but next week they will do them. Baby A is still breech and Baby B is kinda sideways, so we are definitely still doing a c-section. But so far both babies are looking great! And I'm feeling pretty good too, considering - my belly is measuring larger than a full term woman's belly who is pregnant with one baby, and I am only just over 34 weeks along. The doc is still surprised by how well I am doing. She sees no reason right now why I can't make it until the scheduled c-section on Nov. 19th. So things are looking pretty dang good over here and we are truly grateful for that. I have also come to terms with the idea of having a c-section so I'm feeling pretty good about that too. My parents have booked their flight to come and help out, I'm getting as organized and ready as possible while still taking it easy, so we are just praying that things keep going so well and running smoothly. Holy cow, we are going to have two little babies in just over 3 weeks! Can't wait!
