I realized I haven't updated on our garden. Last month the Elders Quorum did a service project and we were the recipients of said service. They came to help us build our garden and get it all ready. Since this was our first time doing a garden we were clueless. We greatly appreciated their help. Then we had a big ol BBQ after.

Things are finally growing, just slowly. But now that it's warm I'm hoping for things to move a little quicker. This is spinach and onions.
Apparently amidst all the weeds that used to be this area we had some strawberry plants, so we kept those suckers and replanted them.
That tree right there also turns out to be an apricot tree. How handy is that? What we've learned so far about gardening is to not do your own little starts inside the house, well at least we won't. We went to a farmer's market a few weeks ago and saw all their plant starts that they were selling and they were WAY bigger than ours. So we ended up buying a few things and planted them. We will be just doing that next year. We had only started 3 veggies inside to try it out. The veggies that we planted directly in the ground as seeds were cucumbers, spinach and onions. So far total we have planted strawberries, tomatoes, tomatillos, zucchini, yellow squash, broccoli, peppers, cucumbers, spinach, onions and basil. And also the apricot tree. Hoping for good things!!

Soooo fun! I was just thinking that with the sun FINALLY coming out we will have about 2-1/2 months of warm weather clothes ahead... Then back to fall/winter clothes. Oh well.
Raised bed gardening is GREAT!! You planted a lot too! Let me know how everything grows for you. One day when we have the room we will have several raised beds for our garden. Until then we just have 1-1/2. It's so exciting to grow your own food! Mmm fresh vegetables and an apricot tree! Awesome!
