Porter started soccer this year! Ok, so this may oddly excite me, but I love having a kid playing a sport that I can go to games for and cheer him on. I'm a soccer mom! :) He had to be 4 to play so I couldn't wait for this year. We want Porter to try all different kinds of sports and then eventually choose the one that he really wants to focus on. One thing about Porter is that he can give up too easily. So even if he doesn't really like a sport we want him to at least finish out the season. But so far so good with soccer. He's had two games and there are 4 more to go. Since it's for four year olds it's pretty basic. They spend the first half hour stretching and practicing kicking, then the last half hour they play a game.

Strrrrreeeeetch.

Encouraging words from the coach.

Practicing.

Fueling up before the big game.

This was during the first game. It was all new to him and a little overwhelming so he didn't want to play anymore. See, he gives up too easily.

Then we bribed him with movie night that night and he went out to finish the game.

Lo and behold when you give something a chance you can actually have fun.

It ended with one happy kid :)

Picture day. We didn't want to bother paying someone to take pics for us when Jeff can do it himself. Would you call that cheap or just smart?

The team.
Four year old soccer is pretty funny. There are many tears on the field. They encourage the parents to be on the field too if needed to help out their child. The awesome thing about Porter's team is that this one kid rocks at soccer and basically makes all the goals. One of the other kids is pretty good too. The others just end up randomly running around the field. We have won both games so far by a landslide, but only because of that one kid. But they technically don't really keep score and the kids don't care anyway. It's fun to watch and Porter is having a good time, and that's all that matters, right?
