Our Valentine's Day

We kept things pretty simple this year. For breakfast I made heart shaped pancakes - well I made a few pancakes in the shape of a heart because it got too frustrating and time consuming to make them all hearts. The night before I had made some heart shaped no bake cookies that we snacked on later. Jeff had bought me these gorgeous flowers (I LOVE tulips):

We are trying to save money so we decided to do this thing where Jeff was my slave for the day, meaning that he had to do whatever I asked, and tomorrow I am his slave. Now get your mind out of the gutter, it wasn't anything like that. When I was younger my Dad started this thing where for Christmas (or was it her birthday?) he would give my Mom this certificate that said every Wednesday he was her slave and had to do anything she asked on that day, like running errands, fixing things around the house, etc. So I figured that Jeff and I could do that for these two days. Since it was Saturday I mainly had errands I wanted to be run and the shower in our bathroom really needed to be cleaned. I clean the rest of the bathroom, but I hate doing the shower. So I had Jeff take Porter with him while he ran all of these errands today so that I could finish some housework, which included cleaning the bathroom in our bedroom (except for the shower of course). Since no one sees the bathroom in our bedroom I am embarrassed to say that it gets quite neglected. So cleaning it today was no fun task. Even though Jeff was my slave today I really wanted to do the various housework because I actually kinda enjoy it. It just helps to have him take Porter with him so I can concentrate on cleaning. During the week I always have work I need to do, so I don't get to focus on doing house stuff.

When Jeff got home after running all over to the numerous places, we all had lunch then put Porter down for a nap. Then I ran on the treadmill while Jeff rode the bike in our garage. We were exercising side by side - romantic, eh? Then we met up with a group of friends at Gustav's for din din. I'm not quite ready to leave Porter with a teenage babysitter yet, and I didn't want to ask any of our friends to watch him since it was Valentine's and all, so we took Porter with us, but he's a pretty good boy at restaurants and so dang cute, so I don't mind taking him with us to these kinds of things. Then we stopped by a little shindig at another friends house, then went home to cut Porter's hair and put him to bed. After that Jeff and I were able to cuddle and watch TV, where he also gave me a nice long massage (he's my slave, remember?). I guess you could say it wasn't a very exciting V-day, but it was great none the less. I love you bebes!!

I'm so glad you guys came even though we were sitting at the opposite end of the table. It was fun playing peek-a-boo with Porter. He is such a CUTE little guy!

I love the slave for a day idea. I should have done that. Good idea for next year. We all should have switched places half way through dinner because I didn't even get to talk to you!! Porter was very very cute!

It was really fun! I wish my kids did that well at restaurants. We might actually go out more if that was the case. I liked the slave idea too. I usually just make Kirk my slave all the time anyway. I think it would be nicer for him to have it all compacted into one day.

I think the slave for a day is a grand idea. And I am with you- sometimes it's just nice not to have to worry about the kids so you can get everything done you need to. It's not that the to-do list is so bad, it is just way harder with kids! Glad it was a good V-day!
